April Ross

April Ross has won more than one Olympic medal. Ross is among only a handful of women beach volleyball athletes to have achieved this feat. Alix klineman, who is taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics, will try to earn her third medal. Ross also hopes to get her very first Olympic medal. As she turns 39, it could be her final chance to take home the gold medal at an Olympics. Her confidence is high nevertheless. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs very well, or even at all, it could be able to win gold. So I'm going to take the chance too. Ross was born in California, Costa Mesa in 1982. Her parents and her sister lived in the area. Ross's athletic endeavors was continued by Newport Harbor High School where she participated in several activities. Being a pre-athlete, she also played indoor volleyball and track. But she clearly was an edge over the other players in this latter game. In her time at high school, she was a middle blocker outside hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her the National Player 1999. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Although Ross Klineman and Ross are in the spotlight since 2017, the former had already been a major athlete on the beach even before the pair formed. In fact, she won numerous major events in the past with two different partners. one of whom is an icon of volleyball. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently played the role of Klineman's coach. Kessy's teammate Ross, who took home the title of world champion with Kessy in 2009, also was significant on the world stage. This duo went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, overtaking them. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a college athlete at USC Trojans prior to beginning her pro career. She played during high school and in some years before she hit the beach professionally. The time she spent in the Trojans' ranks was an impressive one. When she was a freshman in 2000, her play earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. The Trojans made it to the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a significant personal defeat in her sophomore year but was still capable of achieving the All-American title. Over the course of her final two seasons, she took the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. She had established her place as a legend having won the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross did not get to witness Ross reach beach volleyball's highest levels. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. Ross holds her mother very dearly. Margie is a constant source of inspiration for her both on and off the beach.
