Reese Witherspoon seriously pursued her acting career after enrolment at Stanford University. The first time she was recognized for her work, it was with performances in films like Pleasantville and Election but it was her role as Elle Woods in the box office smash Legally Blonde that marked a turning point in her career. Witherspoon was awarded an Academy Award, in 2005, for her role as Walk the Line. Recent films are Water for Elephants This Means War and Wild with which she won yet another Oscar nomination. Witherspoon has also had success on the television screen, having has been a producer and co-star of David E. Kelley's award-winning TV program Big Little Lies. Witherspoon's birth name is Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon. She was born on the 22nd of March in New Orleans Louisiana. Witherspoon is the child of two nurses and doctors. As a child she went to Harpeth College located in Nashville Tennessee. Witherspoon made her debut in the city of Nashville, Tennessee in 1991.
